Unintended Effects of Blogging

Recently, a student emailed me to let me know that zhe decided to attend Howard University School of Divinity in part due to my post on Dr. Cain Hope Felder. I interviewed Felder because I wanted students to appreciate the struggles that senior African-American scholars have had to endure. I knew that Felder would generously share some of his war stories and offer his candid views on the academy.

When I started blogging, I assumed that it would just be one more item on my already too long to-do list. I didn’t realize how much it would help me in becoming a more productive writer and in expanding my network. I also didn’t realize how it could affect others.
