Beyond Swastika & Jim Crow

If you are in Philadelphia, go to see Beyond Swastika and Jim Crow: Jewish Refugee Scholars at Black Colleges. It is a great exhibit at the National Museum of American Jewish History.

In the 1930s, some Jewish refugee scholars obtained teaching positions at Historically Black College and Universities. I teach at Howard University, and the exhibit made me reflect on the privilege of teaching at an HBCU.

The exhibit is showing now through June 2, 2013.
Adult museum admission is $12.

Also, see From Swastika to Jim Crow, the documentary on which the exhibit was based.
